Dimitry Zvegintzov

Brigadier Dimitry Dimitrievitch Zvegintzov (1911 – 1984) was a senior British Army officer.
Zvegintzov was born in Russia into an aristocratic family, the son of Colonel Dimitry Ivanovitch Zvegintzov and Princess Maria Obolensky. During the Russian Revolution of 1917, his family moved to England, fearing the repercussions of the Bolshevik takeover. He was subsequently educated at Bloxham School. On 20 April 1940, he married Hon. Rachel Kathleen Bailey, the granddaughter of Joseph Russell Bailey, 1st Baron Glanusk.
Zvegintzov was commissioned into the Border Regiment.〔The London Gazette, 1 January 1949 http://www.london-gazette.co.uk/issues/38493/supplements/7/page.pdf〕 He saw service during the Second World War. His younger brother, Ivan, was killed during the war.
